KB40157: Metric defined with attribute with HTML Tag form type cannot be rendered properly in MicroStrategy Web 9.x

SYMPTOM:
The HTML tag form of an attribute when used to define a metric as Max(AttributeName) is rendered as text instead of a link.  When the attribute is used directly in the report, then the link is generated as expected. 
 
STEPS TO REPRODUCE: 
Execute the following in Strategy Tutorial:

  • Create an attribute with an expression like this for ID form:
  • ApplySimple("'<A HREF=http://www.Strategy.com>' + #0+'</A>'", )
    * Form type: HTML Tag
    * Save as "Country Name - Hyperlink"
    * For more information about how to define an attribute with hyper link, see:
           KB6684 (KB5600-71X-0372): How to create an HTML tag form for an attribute that can be used as a hyperlink in Strategy Web 9.x
  • Create a metric with expression like "Max().
  • Create a report with this attribute and the metric.
  • Execute the report on Web --> Notice that the hyperlink on the metric is not resolved properly while the link is working on attribute elements:

CAUSE:
The User Input Filtering setting is not enabled properly.
 
ACTION:
Check "Metric values" under Administrator Page > Security > User Input Filtering.

After this, execute the same report and notice that the hyperlink is now rendered as expected:
