After deploying MicroStrategy Mobile Server on a J2EE application server, administrators encounter the error messages when clicking the link to Mobile Configuration.

DESCRIPTION
After deploying Strategy Mobile Server on a J2EE application server, administrators encounter the following error messages when clicking the link to Mobile Configuration.

Then the following errors appear in sequence:

ka04W00000148sSQAQ_0EM4400000026bK.png

Javascript compile error:
File ../javascript/mojo/js/source/QueuedXHR.js
Error: Syntax error

ka04W00000148sSQAQ_0EM4400000026bM.png

Warning: Javascript class not found:
mstrmojo.QueuedXHR

ka04W00000148sSQAQ_0EM4400000026bN.png

Javascript compile error:
FIle: ../javascript/mojo/js/source/locales.js
Error: Syntax error

Warning: Javascript class not found:
mstrmojo.locales

Other than the Mobile Configuration page, functionality of Mobile Administration Page works fine.

ISSUE CAUSE

One possible cause for this issue is user role configuration of the J2EE application server. Strategy Web and/or Mobile server running on J2EE requires a user account with admin role in order to access restricted pages such as the Web Administration - for example:

http:///MicroStrategyMobile/servlet/mstrWebAdmin

If the user has no "admin" role assigned then access is denied and the HTTP response returns a 403 - unauthorized error code.

In certain cases, customer may not be able to deploy a user with admin role due to security restrictions. If that is the case role configuration may have been modified in the corresponding XML files in WEB-INF (web.xml and application server specific configuration .xml file).

If the modification was performed for access to mstrWebAdmin servlet only, access to the Web Administration page will be granted successfully. However, in order to access the Mobile Configuration page within Web Administration a call to "taskAdmin" servlet is required as seen on the screenshot of a Fiddler trace below:

ka04W00000148sSQAQ_0EM4400000026bP.png

In this case, the HTTP response for the taskAdmin request returns a 403 - unauthorized error.

SOLUTION

If a non default role-name is used in the Mobile Server environment, then this modification must be reflected in the web.xml part for taskAdmin as seen below:

  <security-constraint>
    <web-resource-collection>
      <web-resource-name>TaskAdministrator</web-resource-name>
      <url-pattern>/servlet/taskAdmin</url-pattern>
      <url-pattern>/servlet/taskAdmin/*</url-pattern>
    </web-resource-collection>
    <auth-constraint>
      <role-name>admin</role-name>
    </auth-constraint>
    <user-data-constraint>
      <transport-guarantee>NONE</transport-guarantee>
    </user-data-constraint>
  </security-constraint>

Replace the role-name "admin" with the custom role name given in your environment. Please refer to KB36022: How to Modify or Remove the Security Constraint from the taskAdmin Servlet in MicroStrategy Web Universal  for further information.
