KB442601: 11.0 Dossier: filter check box is invisible in Internet Explorer

Community Admin

• Strategy

This Knowledge Base article describes a known issue that occurs with 11.0 Dossiers. The issue is limited to Dossiers run in Internet Explorer directly in Presentation Mode. The root cause is still under investigation but there are two workarounds.

Starting with the release of Strategy ONE (March 2024), dossiers are also known as dashboards.
SYMPTOM:
The check boxes of a filter are invisible in a Dossier executed in Presentation Mode:

The attribute elements in the filter can be selected even if the check boxes are invisible.
The issue occurs only when all the below conditions are met:

  • The Dossier is opened in IE
  • The Dossier is opened directly into Presentation mode (either the user doesn't have the edit permission or they're opening it through a shared link)
  • When opened, any filters with checkboxes must not be showing when the Dossier is first loaded, meaning that the filter must be collapsed when the user first opens the Dossier

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. create a Dossier with Category attribute both in the visualization and in the Filter. Choose checkbox as filter style
  2. collapse the filter and save the Dossier
  3. using Internet Explorer, either run the Dossier using the shareable link or run it as a user with no Web edit Dossier privilege. This is to ensure the Dossier opens in Presentation Mode
  4. notice the issue

CAUSE:
This is an identified defect in Strategy Dossiers 11.0.
ACTION:
Currently this issue is being reviewed by Strategy for a potential code fix on an upcoming Strategy release.
WORKAROUNDS:

  • use a browser other than IE: the issue doesn't occur with Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox
  • edit the Dossier, expand one of the filters and save it
