For Strategy One cloud-hosted customers, the Java and Tomcat upgrades are expected to be seamless as Strategy will handle all infrastructure changes.

Strategy is transitioning from Java 11 to Java 17 in the March 2024 release. Customers using Strategy One cloud hosted, or on-premise environments using the bundled Tomcat version, will have the necessary changes automatically applied during their upgrade. Customers on-premise who use their own web application server will need to upgrade the JDK to JDK17. Customers using Strategy Web ASP should not see any impact. Customizations written using Java 11 versions should continue to work with Java 17.
Strategy is moving from Tomcat 9 to Tomcat 10.1 in the June 2024 release. Customers using Strategy One cloud hosted, or on-premise environments using the bundled Tomcat version, will have the necessary changes automatically applied during their upgrade. Customers who use their own web application server will need to upgrade to Tomcat 10.1 or JBoss 8. Customers running IIS with Strategy Web ASP should not see any impact. Spring-based customizations on the Strategy platform may be affected - see the Spring section for more details.
Strategy is also removing support for Tomcat 8.5 in March 2024. This coincides with Apache’s end-of-life date for Tomcat 8.5.

Strategy is transitioning from Spring Framework 5 to 6. Upgrading to Spring 6 enables access to critical security updates in 2024 and beyond.
