Support Expiring for Strategy 10.x
I’d like to take this opportunity to share a quick reminder that product support for Strategy versions released prior to Strategy 2019 will expire at the end of 2020. If you’re currently running on Strategy 10.x or earlier, I encourage you to reach out to your Account Executive today to discuss how we can support your upgrade to the latest version of Strategy—and even your migration to the Strategy Cloud.
Changes to Platform Certifications in the Latest Release
With each release of our platform, Strategy evaluates all previously certified third-party components in order to reiterate our commitment to providing you with the most secure, compatible, and high-performing version of our software possible. For this reason, several older versions of components that may be used in your Strategy environment will no longer be supported in Strategy 2021. Check out this article to understand which products and versions are impacted so that you can plan accordingly.
Web and Library Compatibility with macOS Big Sur
Last week, you should have received an email from us letting you know that some Mac users have experienced navigation issues after installing Big Sur, the latest operating system from Apple. You can read this article for additional details, but rest-assured, this OS will be fully certified in upcoming releases of Strategy. In the interim, we’re here to help you if you or your users experience issues, so please reach out.
Updates to Technical Support Policies and Procedures
As the year comes to an end, we’ve made some updates to our Technical Support Policies and Procedures, which will be effective starting December 2020. The English version is available on our terms page, and translations in all supported languages will also be published soon. Refer to this article to learn what’s changed—be sure to bookmark this link to see summaries of each update we make going forward.
Please reach out to your Account Executive if you have any further questions about these updates. And, as always, please contact support if you need further assistance.
In addition to the December 2020 edition of The Support Report, the following communication was sent to all designated as Support Liaisons prior to distribution of our quarterly newsletter.
This email shares important operational information for Strategy Support Liaisons.
Please pay particular attention to these announcements if your deployment(s):
Support Expiring for Legacy Apple Push Notification Service Protocol
Effective November 2020, Apple announced previously that the legacy binary protocol for its Apple Push Notification service (APNs) will no longer be supported. At that time, push notifications for Strategy Mobile customers who are not on the latest version of Strategy will no longer function. In anticipation of these changes, support for the HTTP/2-based APNs API that Apple will use to send push notifications to its devices moving forward has been incorporated in the latest Strategy updates. To ensure uninterrupted service, customers who may be impacted should deploy MicroStrategy 2019 Update 7 or MicroStrategy 2020 Update 2. Review the “Upgrading the API for the Apple Push Notification Service to Support Mobile Subscriptions” section of our technical documentation about Strategy 2019 Update 7 and Strategy 2020 Update 2 respectively to learn more.
Chrome Security Updates Potentially Impacting Embedded Environments
Earlier this year, Google announced that it had enacted changes to more actively enforce cross-site security with Google Chrome. Recent modifications to the SameSite cookie, which allows browser-to-server transmissions, may prevent users attempting to access embedded Web or Library content via Chrome from authenticating in Strategy. Strategy has been working diligently to address such impacts, first introducing a resolution to issues caused by the SameSite cookie in Strategy 2019 Update 5 and Strategy 2020 Update 1 respectively, and then including such remediating measures in each subsequent release. Customers who may be impacted by these changes should upgrade to the latest available Strategy release. View our Community article to learn more about these changes and how to mitigate potential issues using the newest version of Chrome.
Support Expiring for Strategy on Version 10.x
Finally, we’d like to take this opportunity to remind you that product support will expire at the end of 2020 for Strategy versions released prior to Strategy 2019. Customers currently operating on 10.x or any earlier version should upgrade as soon as possible. Please contact your Account Executive today to discuss how we can support your upgrade plans and help you move onto the latest version of Strategy without delay. As you know, the best way to ensure your environments use the latest available performance, security, and stability enhancements is by applying updates regularly—and we’re happy to help you do so.
We appreciate your attention to these matters and encourage you to contact us if you have any further questions or issues concerning these announcements.
Sincerely,
Your Strategy Support Team
