This article addresses the "Failed to load control 'msiReportControl' from M3Report.ocx" error returned when editing existing reports in MicroStrategy Developer 10.4.x. This article also provides a recommendation to avoid this error.

Description

When attempting to edit existing reports in Strategy Developer 10.4.x, you may receive the following load error.
“Failed to load control ‘msiReportControl’ from M3Report.ocx. Your version of M3Report.ocx may be outdated.”

Why is this happening?

This is a known issue with Strategy 10.4.x.

Solution

Refer to KB307710 to use the cleanup utility tool to uninstall and install the Strategy product.
