KB483942: Ability for users to select the attribute forms they want to display at runtime in a dossier

Community Admin

• Strategy

This article addresses the default setting for all attribute forms to be displayed when a dossier is run. This article also provides a solution to workaround this default setting.

Starting with the release of Strategy ONE (March 2024), dossiers are also known as dashboards.

Description

By default, all attribute forms are displayed when a dossier is run. However, there may be situations where the attribute forms should not be displayed by default for everyone. Still, the forms should be accessible if needed.

Steps to Reproduce

  • Open Strategy Developer.
  • Create a report that uses an object prompt, such as Category or Subcategory.

  • Make sure the Category attribute has the Image form as a Display form.

  • Run the report and select both attributes in the object prompt.
  • Once the report has run, right click the Category attribute.
  • Select Display Attribute Forms.
  • Add the Image Form to the Selected Forms.

  • Create a dossier based on the report and run it. The Image Form is no longer available.

  • Note: If you add the Image Form as the Display Form, this will make it available in the dossier, but it will be checked.

Why is this happening?

When you use an object prompt in a dossier, you cannot select the display forms in the dataset level. When the dossier gets prompted, all dossier forms for the object will display in the grid.

Solution

The Strategy Technology Team is currently resolving this issue. For an immediate solution, please see the following workaround.

Workaround

Create and save a static report to see the forms selected on the report level after creating a dossier from the report. If the report is saved as a prompt report, this setting will not be saved in the dossier. Similarly, if you reopen the prompt report after adding the form, the change is not saved.
