KB483871: Ability to load pages on demand in a dossier in MicroStrategy 2020

Yali Guo

Product Owner, Principal • MicroStrategy

This article highlights the performance optimization in MicroStrategy 2020 that reduces the initial loading time of pages in a dossier. This article also explains how to adjust the setting in a dossier to allow users to choose the most suitable execution content.

Starting with the release of Strategy ONE (March 2024), dossiers are also known as dashboards.
Since the release of Strategy 10.11, Strategy supports the ability to load chapters on demand in a dossier based on an in-memory cube. By default, when a dossier is opened, the data for all chapters and pages is executed and loaded.
Strategy 2020 now allows you to enable "Load pages on demand" for dossiers based on both in-memory cubes and Live Connect cubes. Now, users can load the default page when opening a dossier and then load the other pages when selected. This reduces the initial loading time and the stress on the Intelligence Server.

Get started with loading chapters on demand

Customers can utilize the "loading chapters on demand" setting to reduce the load time when opening dossiers that contain a lot of pages and chapters:

  • Open Strategy Workstation or Strategy Web.
  • Click on a dossier.
  • Select File > Document Properties.
  • Select Load chapters on demand or Load pages on demand from the Execution Mode drop-down.
