KB426560: After upgrading to MicroStrategy Developer 10.6, executing Freeform SQL reports that use both date and object prompts will resolve the date prompt to a blank value.

Chris Spasevski

Product Specialist • Strategy

In MicroStrategy Developer 10.6, when executing a Freeform SQL report that contains both a text prompt and a date prompt, the date prompt answer is not populated.

SYMPTOM:

In Strategy Developer 10.6, when executing a Freeform SQL report that contains both a text prompt and a date prompt, the date prompt answer is not populated.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
1.) In Strategy Developer, create a Freeform SQL report within a project that contains text and date prompt answers in the where clause. The example below is taken from a Tutorial project, using a connection to SQL Server 2014. The table "test" contains columns "id", "color", and "stDay" with respective values of "1", "Red", and "06/30/17":

select * from test where color = [Value (Text)] and stDay = [Value (Date)];

2.) Execute the report and choose a date and text answer when prompted.
3.) After report execution, notice that the prompt answer for the date prompt was left blank.
CAUSE:

This has been identified as a defect in Strategy 10.6.

ACTION:

This issue is resolved in Strategy 10.7. Upgrade to this version to take advantage of this fix.
