Amazon Redshift is based on a massively parallel processing architecture and provides support for industry-standard SQL, as well as ODBC/JDBC for client connections. Redshift’s distribution style allows for the breaking down of query requirements for more efficient parallel processing across all hardware nodes. In addition, the Redshift architecture eliminates the need for physical indexes, tablespaces, partitions, and other disk structures used by other databases.
