KB483682: An error appears when trying to connect to SurveyGizmo in a 2020 version of Workstation while connected to a 2019 version of the Intelligence Server

Zhen Yao

This article explains why the SurveyGizmo connector appears when using a 2020 version of MicroStrategy Workstation while connected to a 2019 version of the Intelligence Sever

Starting with the release of Strategy ONE (March 2024), dossiers are also known as dashboards.

Description

Upon the release of Strategy 2020, SurveyGizmo will be a supported as a Community Connector. However, if you connect to a Strategy 2019 Intelligence Server while using a 2020 RC version of Workstation, you will see an option to use SurveyGizmo as a data source. When you click on the data source, the following error message appears:
This application has no explicit mapping for /error, so you are seeing this as a fallback.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open a 2020 RC version of Workstation.
  2. Connect to a 2019 version of Strategy Library.
  3. In Workstation, open a dossier and click Add New Data > SurveyGizmo. The error appears.

Why is this happening?

The option to use SurveyGizmo is appearing because the Workstation version 2020, which supports SurveyGizmo as a data source. However, connecting with a 2019 Update 3 Intelligence Server, a version where SurveyGizmo is not supported, will cause the error to appear.
