Built-in KPI Visualization Supported since MicroStrategy 11.0

Starting with the release of Strategy ONE (March 2024), dossiers are also known as dashboards.
KPI Visualization has been supported since Strategy 11.0. Users can now choose the visualization from the Built-in section in Dossier without any need to deploy custom visualizations.

To learn more about this new feature, please refer to this documentation:
https://www2.microstrategy.com/producthelp/11.0/Desktop/WebHelp/Lang_1033/Content/create_kpi.htm

For users who are currently using the custom visualization “KPI” and/or “Smart KPI”:

1. The custom visualizations “KPI” and “Smart KPI” would be removed from the Gallery site. Although encouraged to use the built-in visualization instead for better maintenance, users who have downloaded and deployed the KPI and/or Smart KPI plugins can still use the custom visualizations in Dossier and Report Services Documents. The execution of existing custom visualizations won’t be affected as well.
Note: Although the existing custom visualizations are still usable, the Smart KPI icon would be hidden from the Custom section in Dossier even with the plugin deployed. To create new ones, please use the build-in KPI visualization instead.
2. Users may notice the following error message when running a Dossier or report services document if the corresponding plugin for the custom visualization was deleted from the web application server. To avoid the issue, users can either change the KPI visualization to the built-in one or redeploy the plugin if any customization is needed for some reason. After deploying the plugin, please remember to restart the web application to take the changes into effect.

3. For the custom visualization “KPI” and “Smart KPI”, export to PDF or Data is not supported since Strategy 2019. Users can change the visualizations to the built-in KPI to take advantage of the export feature.
Note: Built-in smart KPI does not support creation in documents, which would also render grids when converting the existing dossier to document.
