Test Methodology
Business Model
- Insight Users: A real user will have 30 KPIs triggered every 1 hour
- Interactive Users: A real user will run/interact with one dosser every 4 hours.
Test Application
- Insight Users: KPI is from a dossier with only one page (75KB) based on a 21GB cube
- Interactive Users: Universal Benchmark project is a standard benchmark application we used for our tests. There are 5 dossiers in Universal Benchmark project which are designed using the Usher Analysis MTDI Cube. These dossiers have multiple chapters and pages covering different type of visualizations and data aggregation.
Assumptions
- Our test result is conducted on above specific test application and test environment. We are trying to make conclusions based on the regular patterns we found in our test results.
- Our tests run on a single machine environment which includes the web application server and intelligence server.
- Since the supported users are calculated based on a small number of simulated users, the memory usage analysis might not be accurate since we do not consider the impact of real user's working set memory.
- Data model for execution time is linear with # of KPI.

- What is the fixed hardware requirement for customer who did not even want to use the feature at all?
1GB for 32GB environment, 4GB for 64GB environment and 6GB for all environments bigger than 128GB
- What is the hardware recommendation for I-Server container with the additional workload from Insight?
[M2021 Update 7] Up to additional 8 cores and 43GB of RAM needed to support 260 users for I-Server container.

- What is the hardware recommendation for Insight services?
4 core, 4GB needed to for insight and python service to support 260 users with 30KPI per user, assuming 6 months data.
- What is the disk requirement for the insight services DB?
[M2021 Update 7] 1.5 GB for 260 users/30 KPI per user/month
[M2021 Update 8] 900MB for 260 users/30 KPI per user/month with hourly data; 40MB for 260 users/30KPI per user/month with daily data.

* Daily data means: data change every 24 hours (every day).
