KB484118: Changing the column index of a source data and republishing leads to incorrect data in a dossier

Xiaozhang Pan

Software Engineer, Senior • MicroStrategy

This article addresses the incorrect data caused by changing the source data and republishing in a dossier. This article also provides a workaround to avoid this behavior.

Starting with the release of Strategy ONE (March 2024), dossiers are also known as dashboards.

Description

Inserting a new column in the middle of a source file or changing the index of existing columns and then republishing will result in incorrect data in a dossier. However, appending new columns at the end will not cause an issue.

Steps to reproduce

  • In a dossier, import data from URL\Oauth\SDK Connectors and publish.
    Source data structure:

  • Sample dossier:

  • Insert a new column in source file.

  • Republish the dataset. The column index does not match.

Solution

Instead of republishing the dataset, you should edit the table and refresh by following the workaround. If you do not have permission to refresh tables, please append new columns at the end of your source data.

Workaround

  • In your dossier, after changing the source file, edit the dataset.
