KB485077: Context menu in layers panel does not update automatically when converting to free-form layout

Starting with the release of Strategy ONE (March 2024), dossiers are also known as dashboards.

Description

When converting a dossier from auto layout to free-form layout, the context menu is not automatically updated upon right-clicking on Visualization 1. 

Steps to reproduce

• Create a dossier in Strategy 2021 Update 2. 
• Convert the dossier to free-form layout from the top toolbar. 
  

• Right-click on Visualization 1 in the layers panel. The context menu options displayed are for auto layout even though the canvas is in free-form layout. 

Why is this happening? 

The layers panel is generated based on the cached layout mode as we refractor the layers panel generation logic to show tree-view structure. After converting to free-form mode, the layers panel is rebuilt before the server request, and the node's definition is outdated. 

Solution 

1. Create a dossier in Strategy 2021 Update 2. 
2. Convert the dossier to free-form layout from the top toolbar. 
3. Click on Visualization 1 in the layers panel.
4. Right-click on Visualization 1 to see the proper context menu option in free-form layout.
