Create attribute option is not displayed in VI when the underlying dataset has custom groups

Community Admin

• Strategy

This Knowledge Base article describes an issue in VI where the create attribute option is not displayed if the underlying dataset has at least one custom group.

Starting with the release of Strategy ONE (March 2024), dossiers are also known as dashboards.
SYMPTOM:
When a dataset that contains at least one custom group or consolidation is used in VI, the option to create attribute is not displayed when you right click on the attribute.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  • Create a report with one attribute, a custom group or consolidation and one or more metrics.
  • Create a VI dashboard and use the report created in step 1 as the underlying dataset.
  • Right click on top of the regular attribute and the create attribute option won't be displayed.

  • If you do not use a Consolidation or Custom Group and right click on an attribute, the Create attribute option will be displayed.

CAUSE:
This is an identified defect in Strategy Web 10.6 and below.
ACTION:
This issue has been addressed in Strategy Web 10.7 and above. Upgrade to any of these versions to be able to create derived attributes out of a dataset that contains Consolidations or Custom Groups.
Note: This fix has been implemented for Strategy Dashboard/Dossier and not Report Services Documents.
