KB483726: Some data is missing from Platform Analytics and "Duplicate entry ... for key ..." errors occur in platform-analytics-consumer.log file in MicroStrategy 2019

David Currin

Quality Engineer, Senior • MicroStrategy

In MicroStrategy 2019, certain scenarios may result in some Intelligence Server statistical data failing to insert into the Platform Analytics warehouse. This issue has been corrected with a Global Patch issued for MicroStrategy 2019 Update 3.

Starting with the release of Strategy ONE (March 2024), dossiers are also known as dashboards.
SYMPTOM:
Some Intelligence Server statistical data is missing from the Strategy Platform Analytics dossier or warehouse.  The following errors are seen in the platform-analytics-consumer.log file, located at <MSTR_INSTALL>/PlatformAnalytics/log/:

2019-05-29 13:22:07,254 ERROR ConsumerProcess$ConsumerRecordsProcessor:331 PlatformAnalytics.IsStepStats_consumer_0 - Error process records using corresponding ETL
java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException
	...
Caused by: com.Strategy.platformanalytics.common.exception.PARuntimeException: Failed to process record:
	...
Caused by: org.hibernate.exception.ConstraintViolationException: could not execute batch
	...
Caused by: java.sql.BatchUpdateException: Duplicate entry '...' for key 'metadata_guid_connection'
	...
Caused by: java.sql.SQLIntegrityConstraintViolationException: Duplicate entry '...' for key 'metadata_guid_connection'
	...

CAUSE:
Strategy Platform Analytics uses Redis as an in-memory cache while processing Intelligence Server statistical data to insert into the Platform Analytics warehouse.  When this issue is occurring, the data being processed by Redis results in incorrect case-sensitive syntax being used to insert the data into the warehouse, which fails.
ACTION:
A Global Patch for this issue has been created for Strategy 2019 Update 3.  Contact Strategy Technical Support to obtain the Global Patch.
