Deploying MicroStrategy Linux on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

Henri-Francois Chadeisson

Director, Sales Engineering • MicroStrategy

This document’s goal is to get you started on deploying MicroStrategy on Google Cloud Platform. It uses Google native components as much as possible. This is not yet designed to be a reference document for production use cases, but really to get you started here natively on Google Cloud with MicroStrategy.

Google Cloud Platform (GCP) provides various computing services (hosting, data, machine learning, network, etc.). Hosting is mainly composed of 4 offers

  • Compute Engine: IaaS to run Linux and Windows environments.
  • App Engine: PaaS offering to deploy applications deployed in various languages (Node.js, Java, Python, etc.)
  • Kubernetes Engine: run containerized applications as a service based on Kubernetes
  • Cloud Functions: event driven code-based functions

Strategy is composed of many services, including Intelligence Server, Collaboration, Real Time Telemetry, Library, Mobile, Web, Service Registration, Export Service, Repositories, etc. These services can be deployed in dedicated servers as micro services
This document focuses on how to deploy the Strategy Platform to Compute Engine as a single tenant with Linux OS. If you wish to deploy to Windows, use the following Knowledge Base article as a reference: https://community.Strategy.com/s/article/Strategy-on-Google-Cloud-Platform
Make sure you check our great Learning Center for Administrators. It provides great tutorial videos and summarizes all the documentation you’ll need https://community.Strategy.com/s/administrator
As both GCP and Strategy are living technologies, it is important to assess how it evolved since redaction/update of this document.
