KB485798: Derived metrics defined with Count function are calculated incorrectly in Live Connect Dossiers

Stefano Antonellis

Principal Product Specialist • Strategy

This article outlines that derived metrics defined with Count function are calculated incorrectly in Live Connect Dossiers

Starting with the release of Strategy ONE (March 2024), dossiers are also known as dashboards.

Symptom

In Strategy 2020 and later, derived metrics defined on top of an attribute show wrong results in dossiers if its datasets have been imported as Live Connects.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Create a new dossier.
  2. Create a new dataset using existing objects. For example:
          Attributes: Category, Customer State, Customer.
          Metrics: Customer Count, Cost, Revenue.

  3. Select "Connect Live" for this new dataset.
  4. Bring Category, Revenue, Customer Count onto the grid.
  5. Create a new derived metric by duplicating the Customer attribute as a metric.
The New Derived Metric and existing "Customer Count" metric from project DO NOT match and gives improper results.
  6. Repeat the steps above but instead of Connect Live, choose In-memory for the new dataset. In such scenario, the New Derived Metric and existing "Customer Count" metric from project match, as expected.

Action

The issue is still being reviewed for feasibility by our Technology team for an upcoming scheduled Strategy release.
