Symptom
Users with the necessary administrative privileges to edit or create users in Strategy Workstation may face an issue where the transmitter dropdown menu appears empty. This situation occurs despite the users having been granted the specific rights needed to manage user accounts. The lack of available transmitters in the dropdown is particularly problematic because it blocks the completion of the user creation process, which mandates the selection of a transmitter.
Cause
This issue occurs because these users, while having the necessary privileges to manage user accounts, do not possess "Read" access to the Transmitters. The absence of this specific permission results in an unpopulated transmitter dropdown.
Action
To overcome this obstacle and ensure that the transmitter dropdown is filled with options, the following steps should be taken to grant "Read" access to the affected users:
For granting access to all transmitters:
- Open Strategy Developer and connect to the relevant environment.
- Proceed to the "Administration" area and unfold the "Delivery Managers" category.
- Identify "Transmitters" and perform a right-click to bring up the security settings.
- Assign "Read" access to the user or user group in question. It is crucial to select "Apply changes in permissions to all children objects" to ensure that all transmitters are made available to the users.
For granting access to a particular transmitter:
- Right-click on the desired transmitter.
- Access the "Security" settings and assign "Read" access upon the users who require it.
By adhering to these guidelines, users with the necessary administrative privileges—but not full Administrator rights—can successfully populate the transmitter dropdown menu. This solution enables the seamless creation and modification of user accounts in Strategy Workstation.
