Vincent Auyeung

Principal Support Engineer • MicroStrategy

This article explains how to workaround the error “MSIXML: Server ‘Server_Name’ not connected” that appears when connecting to an Intelligence server cluster from the Microstrategy Office add-in.

Symptom

In Strategy 2019, connecting to an Intelligence server from Strategy Office causes the following error to appear:
MSIXML: Server ‘Server_Name’ not connected

ka02R000000ked3QAA_0EM2R000000hPo6.jpeg

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Cluster a pair of Intelligence servers as described in KB6022.
  2. In Web services, modify the
    projectsources.xml
file to point to the same project source of both Intelligence server cluster nodes.
  3. Run the Strategy Office add-in.
  4. Connect to Web services.
  5. Try to authenticate to both Intelligence servers. The error appears.

Cause

This is an identified defect in the 2019 Strategy Office add-in.

Workaround

To avoid the error, change the

projectsources.xml
file to point to the primary Intelligence server node. The clustering functionality should work automatically between the named node and any other node in the cluster.
