This Knowledge Base article describes a known behavior that can be encountered when sending a large Dossier to History List in MicroStrategy Secure Enterprise 10.9 and later

Starting with the release of Strategy ONE (March 2024), dossiers are also known as dashboards.
SYMPTOM
In Strategy Secure Enterprise 10.9 and above, the following error may be seen when a user attempts to send a large Dossier to history list:


User request is queued. (Item 'xx' cannot be found.[In Object xx with Type Function] Cannot save History list message because message size (Greater than 4096 MB) exceeds the allowable limit of 4096 MB.)

This may occur even if the setting 'Maximum Inbox message size (MB)' is set to - 1. The following image shows the setting already set to -1 in the Project Configuration within Strategy Developer.

CAUSE
The contents of a Dossier history list message are saved as a stream file, either on disk or in a database depending on the type of history list storage. These stream (.strm) files are limited to a maximum size of 4096MB (4GB). If the Dossier being sent to history list exceeds this size, the error message will be thrown and the history list message will not be created.
ACTION
Split up the large Dossier into smaller, separate parts and then send them to history list as smaller files.
