Executing reports, documents, or dossiers containing expressions or qualifications in MicroStrategy Web prompts experience problems when using Internet Explorer. This article provides a solution and a workaround to this issue.

Starting with the release of Strategy ONE (March 2024), dossiers are also known as dashboards.

Description

Executing reports, documents, or dossiers containing expressions or qualifications in Strategy Web prompts experience problems when using Internet Explorer.
One instance is when a user creates an expression prompt in Developer, executing a report with the expression prompt leads to a blank page.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. In Strategy Developer, create an expression prompt. Select a Radio Button as the style and leave all other settings as default.
  2. In Strategy Developer or Web, create a report and add the expression prompt to the report.
  3. Execute the report in Strategy Web on Internet Explorer. Notice a blank page appears.

Another instance is when a user created an expression prompt in Web and then executing the prompted report leads to an unresponsive prompt selection page.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. In Strategy Web, create an expression prompt.  Select a Radio Button as the style and leave all other settings as default.
  2. In Strategy Web, create a report and add the expression prompt to the report.
  3. Execute the report in Strategy Web on Internet Explorer. The prompt page renders.
  4. Select a qualification for a value. Notice the Run Report button is disabled.

Why is this happening?

The two situations above are identified as known issues in Strategy Web 2019 Update 2.

Solution

This issue is resolved in Strategy 2019 Update 3. To take advantage of this fix, please upgrade to the latest version of Strategy.

Workaround

This issue is specific to Internet Explorer. To perform the above functions successfully, use a different browser such as Google Chrome, Firefox, or Safari.
