KB484599: Exporting documents to Excel does not retain the formatting of values from a threshold in MicroStrategy 2019.

Karol Marczuk

Consultant • Strategy

This article describes the issue encountered when exporting documents that have fields with thresholds defined.

Description

If a metric is added into the document as a text box and has defined conditional formatting that would regulate how many decimal places are to be displayed, then this conditional formatting (threshold) would not be applied in the exported document.

Steps to reproduce

  • Create a blank document, add the dataset, attributes, and metrics as text boxes into the Detail section.
  • Run the document in editable mode.
  • Add conditional formatting for metric A on attribute B.

  • For some elements of attribute B, the values of metric A should be formatted as “Fixed” with 2 decimal places.
  • Run the document. The values are formatted correctly.
  • Export the document. The values of A are not formatted correctly in the cells.

Why is this happening?

This is an identified defect in Strategy 2019.
