• Strategy

This issue has been classified as a configuration issue by MicroStrategy. The impact is limited to MicroStrategy 10.6 with ASP.Net Web Server used to do the PDF export. A workaround for this issue is available in current releases.

SYMPTOM:

New Export Engine is implemented to support exporting Visual Insight to PDF since Strategy 10.6.
Below error message occurs when ASP.Net Web Server is used to trigger the PDF exporting:
"Failed to display visualization: XXX because the Web Server XXX could not be accessed.
Failed due to: Http Status Code: 401"

CAUSE:

The PDFExporterService fails to access the resources from ASP.Net Web Server.

ACTION:

Anonymous authentication should be enabled for some resources available for PDFExporterService to access:

  1. Open IIS Manager, navigate to the Sites → Strategy.
  2. Click the "asp" folder under "Strategy", double-click "Authentication" in the main pane.
  3. In the "Authentication" pane, right mouse click the "Anonymous Authentication", and then click "Enable" in the pop-up menu.
  4. Do the above operations for "Images", "javascript", "plugins" and "style" folder.
