KB485738: Filter on NULL does not work as expected in dossier after upgrade to MicroStrategy 2021

Starting with the release of Strategy ONE (March 2024), dossiers are also known as dashboards.

Symptom

After upgrade to Strategy 2021, a dossier contains filter on NULL does not work as expected. The filter is like "A is Null" or "A in (..., null, ...)", and it filter out some non-redundant data which leads to lose some correct data in the grid.
In one case, with the filter, result shows the rows as nulls even though there are values while the expected result is no null values. 
NOTE: Data is correct when download the Data Engine version to 10. 
 

Cause

This is a known issue with Strategy Data Engine 12 and 13. 
 

Action

This issue has been fixed in Strategy 2021 Update 6. Upgrade to this version to take advantage of the fix.
 

Workaround

1. Create a AFB (Aggregate from base) metric M1 = Max([Filter_attribute]@ID){~+} 

1. On the filter panel, remove the original filter and add a view filter (M1 is NULL) to the Visualization
