KB485575: Filters and selectors do not work after changing the data engine version in MicroStrategy 2021

Starting with the release of Strategy ONE (March 2024), dossiers are also known as dashboards.

Description

A dossier that has multiple datasets, and the filter is like "Attribute is Null" or "Attribute in (..., null, ...)", filter out some non-redundant data, because of which the data shows the rows as nulls even though there are values.
 

Steps to reproduce

• Create a Dossier with 2 datasets.
• Create one filter on Attribute like "Attribute is Null"  on filter panel.

Workaround

• Create a metric M1(with aggregate from base) = Max([Attribute]@ID){~+} in the 1st dataset.
• On the filter panel, remove the filter on "[Attribute]@ID"
• Add a view filter (M1 is NULL) to the Visualization .

Solution

To fix the data issue, upgrade to Strategy 2021 Update 6 and set the Data Engine Version to be 2021. To set Data Engine Version, refer to How to set Date Engine Version.
