In Strategy 2020, the free-form layout was introduced to provide users a revolutionary way to create a dossier.
The free-form layout feature enables you to share a meaningful story through data. In today's reporting systems, the amount of data available to business organization is rapidly increasing. Traditional visualizations can often only offer viewers a rigid snapshot of information. While these visualizations can be useful, the quality and quantity of information is limited by its inactive nature. However, a freeform dossier can convey additional information within the same visual space, making the experience more meaningful, and allowing for the creation of a narrative storyline from the provided data.
Furthermore, the free-form layout not only changes the outlook of the dashboard, but also the creation process. With the free-form layout, you are provided with a photoshop-like experience, where you can layer, group, align, and distribute your elements . The Layers panel allows you to easily bring containers to the front, or the back, to create a combination of data visualizations. The grouping/ungrouping feature gives you the control to design how your dashboard should be responsively displayed on mobile devices. The alignment feature allows you to quickly arrange the positions of multiple containers.
The features introduced in the free-form layout make dossier authoring a more efficient and flexible experience.
