KB442497: Health check: DSSError log and performance logs

Community Admin

• Strategy

In order to improve performance on existing applications please follow these recommendations.
  • DSSError logs:

    1. Ensure that all unnecessary logs are turned off from Strategy Diagnostics and Performance Logging Tool. What you don’t see by default: Like Dimensional Storage, and any other traces : Cube Traces, SQL Migration Traces, etc, should be turned off. Writing tons of lines to disk is expensive in terms of performance

      2. Increase the size of the DSSError logs to 32MB if possible. Its currently defaulting at 2 MB

  • Performance counters

    1. Performance monitor counters should always be enabled. Logging intervals may be lowered to every 30 secs or 1 minute, on high concurrency production environments. This logging is not heavy and will not impact performance
