Starting with the release of Strategy ONE (March 2024), dossiers are also known as dashboards.
Ever wonder which World Cup team has the most red cards? Or maybe you wonder which team has the most goals scored against them? Answer these questions and more with the History of World Cups dossier. This is the 6th post in our weekly series of winning dossiers from Strategy's internal "So you think you can dossier?" contest.
This dossier was created by Igor Freitas, one of our very own Training Consultants from Barcelona, Spain.

"Because football lovers like to analyze that kind of information."
"In this dossier we can find interesting information for football lovers, like, which countries have won the most World Cups, which ones are the leading scoring teams, and many other interesting stats by team and World Cup year."
This page has several visualizations that filter based on year. For example, if you click on 1954, you will see the map filter to Switzerland and the area chart will show that the average attendance was 29,561 people. This grid shows a total of 16 teams with an average of 5.38 goals scored.

The heat map located below shows the goals scored during each World Cup, as well as average goals scored per match.
France and Brazil tie for the most goals scored, with 171 total goals scored.

The Dossier also includes a Bubble Chart that shows goals scored, goals against, and wins.
From analysis, the visualization shows that the teams with the most wins overall (Brazil with 70 and Germany with 66) also have lower goals against per match. Uruguay stands out with the highest goals scored per match. Click on team names in the grid to filter the bubble chart.

"After creating this dossier, I could understand which countries have the highest and lowest scoring numbers and the ones with the most yellow and red cards. It also helped me easily identify which World Cup (by year) has the highest and lowest average goals scored, which shows that back in the old days, teams used to score more goals than in the recent Cups."
The Dossier contains another grid shows that Angola and Slovenia receive the highest number of cards by match (about 3).
Sorting on the red card column shows that Brazil has the most red cards overall (10).
