Amazon Alexa is a virtual assistant developed by Amazon. Alexa extends the capabilities of the MicroStrategy product by allowing hands-free access to all data that is accessible through the MicroStrategy REST API. Alexa should be used for quick information. Any information that results in a list or long paragraph of information should be avoided. As a rule, Alexa should be able to respond in one sentence or less, for users will lose interest or not be able to parse exactly what Alexa is saying.
Starting with the release of Strategy ONE (March 2024), dossiers are also known as dashboards.
Notable Features
Users are able to control the questions and answers Alexa can provide purely based on the design of their dossier.
Voice apps can be custom built to answer specific questions against datasets with dynamic prompts. We are not only limited to reading static questions from a dossier.
Security can be handled at a per user basis by integrating with a 3rd party oAuth provider.
The same backend code built to support a voice application can be converted into a chatbot, and vice versa
It will call a function – and a block of code will be triggered
Then we need to interact with Strategy
We then need to login as a user so that we can extract the data securely as a specific user
Next, we must pull the dossier definition. This definition will tell us for each chapter, on each page, what visualizations exist
Next, we ask Strategy to execute the dossier, giving us back a dossier instance
