How to Delete Web Single Sign-on Connections Tied to the MicroStrategy Intelligence Server Definition Using the MicroStrategy COM SDK 9.4.1

Kyle Petrillo

Technical Support Intern • Strategy

As of MicroStrategy 10, the ability to delete the MicroStrategy Intelligence Server SDK to remove the Web Single Sign-on connections tied to a MicroStrategy Intelligence Server Definition is not possible. Developers can disable the connections, but not remove them. In order to remove them, a new server definition needs to be created. In some cases, this is not feasible. The following snippet of code uses the MicroStrategy Intelligence Server SDK to remove the Web Single Sign-on connections tied to a MicroStrategy Intelligence Server Definition:

Dim config As IDSSConfiguration2
'Get Configuration Object
Set config = mySource.Configuration

Dim serverDef As IDSSServerDef3
Dim folder As IDSSFolder2
'Get Configuration objects (returns as a folder object)
Set folder = config.Root

'Iterate through the folder and search for "Server Definitions"
'Iterate through the Server Definitions objects and search for type 33 (DssXmlTypeServerDef)
'Retrieve XML string of serverdef object
Dim LoadString As String
LoadString = serverDef.Setting(DssServerAuthSettings3)

'Put the XML string of AuthSettings to DSSAuthSettings object
Dim myAS As New DSSAuthSettings
Dim myAS2 As IDSSAuthSettings1
Set myAS2 = myAS

'Load auth settings from xml string
myAS2.LoadAuthSettingsFromXMLDOMStr (LoadString)

'Clear all the trusted web servers
myAS2.ClearTrustWebServers

'Get the XML string of changed one
Dim myASString2 As String
myASString2 = myAS2.SaveAuthSettingsToXMLDOMStr

'Put the new string back to the server def
serverDef.Setting(DssServerAuthSettings3) = myASString2

'Save the change
serverDef.Info.Save
