KB442440: How to Reset selections for Selectors in Report Services Documents

Vincent Auyeung

Principal Support Engineer • MicroStrategy

When using a graph as a selector to select values from another graph, one may need to reset selections

Starting with the release of Strategy ONE (March 2024), dossiers are also known as dashboards.
SYMPTOM:
When using a graph as a selector to select values from another graph, one may need to reset selections. After a specific value is selected, it is unclear from the interface how to remove the selection.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. Create a report services document
  2. Create a graph that contains 1 attribute and 1 metric
  3. Create a grid that contains the same  attribute and metric as the graph
  4. Have the graph attribute target the grid

Workaround:
Use the Reset selections from the hamburger menu.

CAUSE:
In Dossier, to remove the selections the user can click outside of the graph or on the selected element to unselect it, but in RSDs there doesn't seem to be a way to reset the selections. The workaround to use the Reset selections from the hamburger icon works if the default selection of the document is unselected. However, if it is to a specific element, then there is no way to remove the selections
