Video Tutorial - How to Use MicroStrategy Transaction Services

SYMPTOM:
When trying to answer a prompt where it should then filter an element list prompt, A.K.A. prompt-in-prompt or nested prompt, an error message appears in Strategy Web:
 

ServiceManager: XML syntax error.Message not found in user history list. It may have been deleted from other session already. Please refresh your history list.Filtered element browsing is not supported with a filter that contains prompts.Error in Process method of Component: ResolutionServer, Project xxx, Job xxx, Error Code= -2147213788.

 
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
Execute the following in Strategy Tutorial:

1. Create a Freeform SQL Report with a prompt.
   
   ex)
   
   Sql
   Select YEAR_ID from LU_YEAR whre YEAR_ID In {PromptOfYearElements}
   
    
   
2. Create a filter with the report created above. (Report as a filter).
3. Create a prompt using the filter creates at step#2 as a filter for Month attribute elements.
4. Create a filter with the prompt created at step#3.
5. Create a report with the filter created at step#4.
6. Execute the report in Developer--> no problem.
7. Execute the report in Web --> after answering the first prompt, getting an error:

CAUSE:
This is a known issue with Strategy Web 9.0.x, 9.2.x, and 9.3.x. 
 
The same report can be executed with Developer.
 
ACTION:
Strategy is investigating this issue and will post any updates as soon as they become available.

WORKAROUND:
Do not use Freeform SQL as a filter, but use a filter object or a regular report as a filter instead.
