KB484129: How to apply "Allow joins across datasets based on unrelated common attributes” on an individual document

Community Admin

• Strategy

This article describes how to achieve results with joins across datasets based on unrelated common attributes in an individual document.

Starting with the release of Strategy ONE (March 2024), dossiers are also known as dashboards.
In Strategy, you can choose to allow or disallow joins across datasets based on unrelated common attributes.
See this difference in Joins Across Datasets and Document/dashboard best practice.
You can allow joins across datasets based on unrelated common attributes in a single Dossier or for all of the documents. However, the setting is not available for an individual document. It has to be enabled for the entire project.

Workaround

To have values in an individual document resemble the values calculated with the Allow joins across datasets based on unrelated common attributes setting enable, refer to the following steps:

  1. In your dossier, turn the Allow joins across datasets based on unrelated common attributes setting on.
  2. Go to FIle > Convert to Document.

The following screenshots are examples of the application of the workaround:

Document with the setting disabled

Dossier with the setting enabled

Document created with the dossier above using Convert to Document

The results from the document, which was created from a dossier, are accurate. The results are identical to the results in a dossier with the Allow joins across datasets based on unrelated common attributes setting on.
