KB439433: How to connect to an AWS Developer Instance from a Windows RDP session

Zachary Purcell

Senior Support Engineer • Strategy

You can connect to the Developer machine running in an AWS environment through the Web Gateway using Guacamole. Although this provides necessary functionality, there may be cases where you want to simply RDP from your local machine without having to go through the Web Gateway.

The URL for connecting from the web will look something like this:
https://env-XXXXX.customer.cloud.Strategy.com/MicroStrategy/servlet/mstrWeb?pg=landingPage&server=env-XXXXXlaiouse1
(replace the XXXXX with the ID of your instance)

This same URL will not be sufficient to connect via RDP however. Instead you will have to use the following URL and replace the XXXXX with the 5 digit ID of your instance
env-XXXXX-rdp.customer.cloud.Strategy.com

Using this URL with the mstr user and password provided in your email will allow you to connect to the Developer machine using RDP from your on-prem Windows machine KB439433
