How to deploy Hadoop Gateway Manually

David Harsh

Software Engineer in Test II • Strategy

This video provides the steps necessary to deploy the Hadoop Gateway manually

The phrase “manual deployment” can be intimidating. I think it is also worth it to highlight how easy it is to manually install this Gateway on your Hadoop Cluster. At a highlevel, all you have to do is download a tar package on your edge node, untar this package, update one spark.properities file, and then start the application.
This is a short two-minute video highlighting how easy it is to install and configure the hadoop gateway manually.

  1. Download the Hadoop Gateway from our download site, unzip the file
  2. load this file into the edge node of your Hadoop Cluster
  3. Now navigate to the edge node and untar the file
  4. Configuring the gateway entails the following simple steps:

a. Making a copy of two template files (spark.properties and log4j.properties)
b. Provide configuration parameters in spark.properties:
c. Start application - ./hgos-start.sh
After the gateway has been installed and configured, the administrator can go start the cluster in sbin/start-hgos.sh. Once stated, the yarn component will update with a new application.
