This article outlies the steps to enable debugging level logs for Platform Analytics in MicroStrategy 2021.

Description

By default, Platform Analytics only logs info-level messages to the log files.
To log debug-level messages to the log files, refer to the following steps.

  1. In the
    conf/log4j2.properties
    file, change the value of two fields from
    info
    to
    debug
    .

    appender.infoRolling.filter.threshold.level = info
    rootLogger.level = info

    to

    appender.infoRolling.filter.threshold.level = debug
    rootLogger.level = debug

    Note:
    • In Strategy 2020 and prior versions, Platform Analytics uses
      conf/log4j.properties
      as the configuration for log4j1.
    • Starting from Strategy 2021, Platform Analytics uses
      conf/log4j2.properties
      as the configuration for log4j2.
  2. Restart Platform Analytics Consumer to apply the change.
    To stop and start the PA Consumer, please refer to KB483019.
  3. Reset the fields back to
    info
    after debugging.
