KB484349: How to fix a dossier that displays a duplicated PDF drop-down option when sending it

Community Admin

• Strategy

This article explains why you may two PDF options (delivery format) available when sending a dossier created on deprecated Flash VI templates. This article also provides a workaround to avoid this behavior.

Starting with the release of Strategy ONE (March 2024), dossiers are also known as dashboards.

Description

A dossier created based on deprecated Flash VI templates may result in two PDF options in the Send Now page. As shown in the screenshot below, after upgrading the metadata to a newer version (e.g., upgrading from 9.4.1 to Strategy 2020), some metadata upgrade failure may result in two PDF options being displayed in the Delivery Format drop-down of the Send Now page. The duplicated options can cause confusion.

Why is this happening?

This behavior can be caused by some metadata upgrade problem which leads to an incorrect property (AvailableViewModes) value in the metadata for dossiers created based on legacy Flash VI templates. The two PDF options represent the two different file formats:

  • One represents the PDF format.
  • The other represents the Flash format, which is deprecated.

Workaround

You can connect to the metadata and execute the following SQL to update the specific property value on a problematic dossier:

Update MSTR_REPO.DSSMDOBJINFO set view_media = 1879072805 where object_id = '<OBJECT_ID>';
UPDATE DSSMDOBJPROP SET PROP_VAL = 24613 WHERE PROPSET_ID= '94D733871DC645799F75BEA53B77BC08' AND PROP_ID = 28 AND PROJECT_ID = '<PROJECT_ID>' AND OBJECT_ID = '<OBJECT_ID>';

To find all the dossiers that may have this problem, you can use the following SQL:

To help users find all the Dossiers that may have this problem, we can use the following SQL:
SELECT OBJECT_ID FROM DSSMDOBJPROP WHERE PROPSET_ID= '94D733871DC645799F75BEA53B77BC08' AND PROP_ID = 28 AND PROP_VAL = 141 AND PROJECT_ID = '<PROJECT_ID>' AND OBJECT_ID IN (SELECT OBJECT_ID from DSSMDOBJINFO WHERE PROJECT_ID = '<PROJECT_ID>' AND VIEW_MEDIA >= 1879048192 AND VIEW_MEDIA < 2013265920 AND OBJECT_TYPE = 55);

After upgrading the property value, the Send Now page should display only one PFF option in the Delivery Format drop-down.
