A user can define a threshold on a grid to replace the data with an image, or the attribute form is image. However, when viewing the grid with the image from MicroStrategy 2019 update 1 Android on different resolution android devices, the image appears different sizes on different resolution android devices.

SYMPTOM
A user can define a threshold on a grid to replace the data with an image, or the attribute form is image. However, when viewing the grid with the image from Strategy 2019 update 1 Android on different resolution android devices, the image appears different sizes on different resolution android devices.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. Create a document in Strategy Web and insert a grid.
  2. Configure that grid with a threshold that replaces the text with an image when the threshold is met.
  3. Open the document on a Strategy 2019 update 1 Android device and compare with different resolution android devices.  The High resolution Android device displays the images at considerably smaller sizes than low resolution android device.

CAUSE:
It is the result of different devices having different DPI settings which affects the size display of all images. Android devices could have different resolution ranging all the ways from MDPI to XXXHDPI. DPI is calculated by device resolution device size. Below is Android DPI ranges:

  • MDPI: 160 DPI
  • HDPI:  240 DPI
  • XHDPI: 320 DPI
  • XXHDPI: 480 DPI
  • XXXHDPI: 640 DPI

If user user one image for all DPI devices, the image size on MDPI device is 4 time larger than XXXHDPI device.
ACTION:
To make the image size is same across different DPI devices, here is the steps:

  1. Use a high resolution images, so that the image size can render normally on high resolution devices
  2. Append @2x on image path on Strategy Web, once android detects the image path ends with @2x, the image size would be scaled based on current device resolution

Note:
If the image is the attribute form, user need also update the image path to be append with @2x for image form. The image name is No need to be renamed.
