KB483897: How to prevent the underlying datasets of a document or dossier from being sent to your History List when you send a document or dossier to your History List

Starting with the release of Strategy ONE (March 2024), dossiers are also known as dashboards.

Description

After sending a document or dossier containing a report as its dataset to your History List, both the document or dossier and its underlying report appear in the History List.

Steps to Reproduce

1. In Strategy Web, create a report and save it.
2. Create a document and add the report as its dataset.
3. Send the document to your History List.
4. Open your History List. Notice your document is there, and if you click the drop-down arrow, the report appears as well.

Why is this happening?

By default, Strategy will send both a document/dossier and its underlying dataset to the History List together. However, this setting can be turned off in the Project Configuration Editor.

Solution

To prevent a document or dossier's underlying report from being sent to the History List, you can disable the setting "Save Report Service document dataset messages to History List."

• Open Strategy Developer.
• Right-click your project and select Project Configuration.
• Go to Project definition > History list.
• Uncheck the Save Report Services document dataset messages to History List checkbox.
  

• Click OK.

Now when you send a document or dossier to your History List, the message will appear without the underlying report.
