This Knowledge Base Article outlines how to grey out and disable the “Show hidden objects” setting in MicroStrategy Office 10.x. There is no way to remove this setting from the MicroStrategy Office GUI.

SYMPTOM:
In the Strategy Office Options, the setting “Show hidden objects” allows users to see all the folders in Strategy Office, even if the folders are hidden to the user in Strategy Web. This setting can be found in the Strategy Office Options under General > View > Folder Options as seen below. By default, this setting is disabled.

Follow the below steps to grey out and disable the “Show hidden objects” settings.

  1. Locate the moimain.dll.config file located in the Web Services machine under <Strategy Web Services Installation>\Office\moimain.dll.config.
  2. Add the following key to the moimain.dll.config file under appSettings.

<add key="Show Hidden Objects" value="0" enable="0" override="1" />

The file will look similar to the one below.
