This article describes how to set job limit for Database Instance to increase the Intelligence Server throughput

Starting with the release of Strategy ONE (March 2024), dossiers are also known as dashboards.
System may get a very slow response if there are many jobs executed at the same time. Administrator could see lots of jobs are running at the same time from the developer tool, and end user will get slow response for fetching data during cube publishing or dossier/document executing. There is a maximum job limit for each Database Instance and enlarge the job limit will help to increase the intelligent server throughput. We provide two approaches to enlarge the the job limit for Database instance.

Approach #1 - For user created database instance

If the user finds the slow response from the system and data is fetching from Database instance created by end user, below is one sample process to enlarge the job limit for this Database instance.

  • Assume there is a Database instance named "NEW DB".
  • Open Developer, log into your project. Right click the project, choose Project Configuration.
  • In the left panel, navigate to Database Instances => SQL Data Warehouses. On the right panel, check "NEW DB" and click "Yes" then "OK". After this step, the DB instance has been successfully added to project Data warehouse.
  • Navigate to ProjectName => Administration => Configuration Managers => Database Instances. You can find your Database instance here.
  • Right click "NEW DB", choose "Edit". Switch to "Job Prioritization" tab, User could modify the number of connections by priority according to your prediction on load. User only needs to enlarge the number for low priority category.

Approach #2 - For default Data Import Database Instance

If user find the slow response from the system and data is fetching from local file, URL, OAuth etc which user not create Database instance explicitly,  user could modify the default setting of Data Import DB Instance through Developer as well, and only needs to enlarge the number for low priority category.
