How to update Landing Page URLs after changing DNS

Umar Ghazi

Software Engineer, Senior • MicroStrategy

This guide will show you the steps you need to take to update the URLs on the landing page of your environment if you change the DNS of your environment. All Landing Page links are stored in a config file.

To update the Landing Page URLs, follow these steps:
1. Navigate to the following directory on your Linux box:
/opt/apache/tomcat/latest/webapps/MicroStrategy/plugins/LandingPage
2. Edit the config.json file. (Note: before making any changes, it is a good idea to make a backup of the file first)
3. Replace all instances of the old DNS name with your new DNS name. The easiest way to do this is using the find and replace feature in your text editor. The default DNS name is env-xxxxx where 'xxxxx' is your environment ID. In the screenshots, we changed the DNS name from "env-114884" to "Strategy".

4. Save the file
5. Your changes will be reflected on the Landing Page URLs. In the below screenshot, the cursor is hovering over the Strategy Web 'Launch' link to show that the URL is utilizing the new DNS name set in step 3.
