How to use ODBC calls to fetch Impala tables in MicroStrategy 10.9

Norman Matos

Associate Scrum Master • Strategy

In Strategy 10.9 onwards, when connecting to Impala as the data source, and fetching the Warehouse catalog, users will run into the error message:
Could not resolve table reference: 'information_schema.v_tables" when information_schema table is not available

Resolution:

To fix this issue, there are 2 options:
1. Create the information_schema tables on the Impala database end. Follow the TN https://community.strategy.com/article/ka34400000097dwAAA/Cloudera-Impala-Best-Practices-for-Performance to do that and have an Information_schema database pre-created.
2. Disable SQL as the WH catalog option to fetch tables; instead use ODBC Calls to fetch tables back. Go into WH catalog options, and select “Use standard ODBC calls to obtain the database catalog”.
