KB440468: In MicroStrategy 10.9, not all visualization filters are passed to a target visualization in dossier web authoring

• Strategy

This Knowledge Base article addresses a current limitation of dossier web authoring where not all visualization filters are passed to a target visualization.

Starting with the release of Strategy ONE (March 2024), dossiers are also known as dashboards.
SYMPTOM:
When targeting visualization B with filtered visualization A, only one filter is passed to visualization B.  Not all visualization filters are passed to the target visualization. To have all the same filters apply to visualization B, users will need to specify the filters again.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  • On visualization A, specify a set of 2 or more filters. Save and close Advanced Filter Editor.

  • Confirm data has been filtered. Example: below the case count value post filter is 11.

  • Right-click an element and Go to Targets.

  • Visualization B has been filtered by Account only.

CAUSE:
This is currently a limitation of the dossier web authoring.

ACTION:
Users will have to add filters 2 and 3 (All filters except the one that is passed) as they are defined for visualization A to visualization B. Users will then see the expected number reflected in visualization B when targeting from visualization A.
