KB483735: In Web 2019, reducing the size of a dossier in presentation mode causes the information to appear cut off without the ability to scroll.

Zhili Cheng (TPM)

Product Manager, Principal •

This article describes a known limitation when reducing the size of a dossier viewed in presentation mode. This issue is currently under investigation, but there are two viable workarounds offered in this article.

Starting with the release of Strategy ONE (March 2024), dossiers are also known as dashboards.

Description

In Strategy Web 2019, reducing the size of your browser while viewing a dossier in presentation mode causes the information to be truncated. Users are unable to see the rest of the information because there is no scroll bar available.

Steps to Reproduce

  • In Strategy Web 2019, create a dossier and add a visualization.
  • Click Presentation Mode

  • .
  • Reduce the browser size to below 610 px. Notice the information is cut off the page and there is no scroll bar to see more.

Why is this happening?

This is an identified limitation in Strategy 2019.

Solution

Strategy's Technology Team is currently investigating this limitation. For an immediate solution, use the following suggested workaround.

Workarounds

One way to resolve this issue is to group visualization using the Responsive View Editor.
In a responsive preview, each visualization fills the width of the entire screen by default. You can group visualizations that you want to appear side-by-side, in the same row, using the Responsive View Editor.
For instructions on how to use the editor, see How to Group Visualizations for Responsive Design.
Alternatively, you can use the embedded Web Library to have a smaller width in an HTML container. The Embedding SDK allows you to quickly integrate a Strategy dossier into a web application in a responsive manner.
For instructions, see Introduction to the Embedding SDK.
