KB441672: Incremental Fetch Fails when Scrolling in Internet Explorer for Report Services Documents

Vincent Auyeung

Principal Support Engineer • MicroStrategy

When scrolling through data on a grid with many rows in an information window in Internet Explorer, the grid will not display new rows when scrolling down using the mouse wheel or scroll bar down arrow.

SYMPTOM:
When scrolling through data on a grid with many rows in an information window in Internet Explorer, the grid will not display new rows when scrolling down using the mouse wheel or scroll bar down arrow. It will appear as if there is no more data in the grid. The data does not load unless you scroll up and then down again.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
1. Add Year, Quarter, Country, Region, Call Center, Manager, Employee, Salary, and Revenue to a grid report
2. Add the report to an RSD as a dataset
3. Add a panel to the detail header section of the RSD
4. Add the grid with all the attributes and metrics to the panel
5. Set the width and height of the panel to 7.5 inches and 3.75 inches respectively
6. Set the width and height of the panel to 5.125 inches and 3.25 inches respectively
7. For grid settings, enable incremental fetch in grid, count by individual rows, and rows per page to 200
8. On the Windows OS mouse properties, set the wheel to scroll 20 lines per notch
9. Run the RSD and use the scroll wheel to scroll to the bottom of the grid quickly (Note: try stopping midway through the grid so that it starts to render some rows then scroll to the bottom of the grid)
ACTION:
This issue has been logged as a defect. It is currently set to be resolved in the next major release of Strategy.
