Strategy 2019 Update 2 was released for general availability on June 28, 2019. In addition to addressing over 400 customer-initiated issues and enhancements, several changes were made to support proper licensing and enforcement for products released since January 2019, including:
As of Strategy 2019 Update 2, each of these products has a dedicated user privilege, assignable to individuals, groups, and security roles. The Update also established new, dedicated license types for each of the new products, these licenses are consumed solely through the assignment of the new privileges.
As a result of the general availability of the new licenses and privileges, all customers downloading and installing Strategy 2019 Update 2 MUST retrieve a new license key specific to this version of the product. The Update 2 license key is different from the original key made available for Strategy 2019. Customers upgrading from Strategy 2019 to Strategy 2019 Update 2 need to procure the new key from the MicroStrategy Download site or from their account executive.
Customers upgrading to Update 2 from versions of Strategy prior to 2019 need to first install Strategy 2019, on top of which Update 2 can be deployed. This will require customers to deploy two keys–the first to complete the install of Strategy 2019, and the second (of the new type) to complete the Update 2 installation.
Also in Update 2, Strategy has made changes to the license key structure that now permits new licenses and privileges to be added and activated without requiring customers to procure new license keys.
