KB486073: “Invalid Control Flag” error in log when using Integrated authentication (Kerberos) in MicroStrategy Web 2021

Stefanie Polleri

Senior Cloud Support Engineer III • MicroStrategy

This article describes a behaviour within MicroStrategy, whereby login to MicroStrategy Web fails using Kerberos or Integrated authentication with generic error “No Valid Credentials”.

The MSTR Web logs will show following entry and indicate a configuration error:

…

Caused by: java.io.IOException: Configuration Error:

Invalid control flag, COM.SUN.SECURITY.AUTH.MODULE.KRB5LOGINMODULE

…

CAUSE:

This error indicates a configuration error with the jaas.conf file, whereby the content was copied over from a chat (within MS Teams) and hence formatted in a non-readable way for the configuration to be successful.

ACTION:

Please make sure the jaas.conf file is configured and formatted properly (with proper whitespaces and no tabs) for Kerberos/Integrated authentication to be successful.
